BIPOC Touring Day Recap
February 9, 2025
On Sunday, February 9, 2025, we hosted our first BIPOC Touring Day of the 2025 season at Mt. Abram in Greenwood, Maine. This event was designed to create a welcoming and empowering space for BIPOC individuals to experience the joy of ski touring and splitboarding while building community in the outdoors.
We were thrilled to welcome 15 participants, who spent the day learning new skills and connecting with the growing BIPOC touring community. To make the event more accessible, Inclusive Ski Touring covered the cost of downhill ski and snowboard lessons, ensuring that participants new to downhill skiing and riding had the opportunity to learn from professional instructors before becoming future uphillers.
The day featured two tailored programs:
Uphill Tour for Experienced Downhillers – Participants with existing downhill experience joined a group tour, embracing the skin track together while building confidence in their touring skills.
Downhill Skill-Building for Beginners – Five individuals took part in professional ski and snowboard lessons with the goal of gaining the skills needed to become future uphillers. Seeing their stoke and progression throughout the day was truly inspiring!
This event was about more than just touring—it was about representation, learning, and strengthening community connections in the outdoors. We are incredibly grateful to our lead volunteers Lance Campbell and Maurice Grant for volunteering their time and leadership.
Our BIPOC Program Days would not be possible without the generous support of Blizzard Tecnica, ISP Advisors, Lawson’s Finest Liquids, and L.L.Bean. Their contributions help us continue creating opportunities for BIPOC communities to access and enjoy the outdoors.

Stay tuned for more events and programs as we continue our commitment to making the outdoors more accessible and welcoming for all.
