Privacy policy
What information we collect, why, who we share it with, and how to get it removed. Written to be read rather than to be defensible.
Last updated July 2026. Inclusive Ski Touring is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 87-1176554, P.O. Box 278, Hanover, Maine 04237.
What we collect
- When you register for a program: your name, email address, phone number, emergency contact, and anything you tell us about your ability, your gear or an accommodation you need.
- When you donate: your name, email address, billing address and the amount. Card details go directly to our payment processor and we never see or store them.
- When you buy from our store: your name, email, shipping address and order details.
- When you join our newsletter: your email address.
- When you apply for a scholarship: your name, email, the program you want and whatever you choose to write in the three open questions.
- When you volunteer: your name, contact details, experience and availability.
- When you visit this website: standard technical information such as your IP address, browser and pages viewed.
Why
To run programs and keep people safe on them, to process donations and orders, to send you the emails you asked for, to assess scholarship applications, and to report anonymously and in aggregate on what we did, which is what our annual impact report is.
We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not share it with anybody for their own marketing. Ever.
Who we share it with
Only the service providers we need to operate, and only what they need:
- Squarespace, who host this website, our store and our forms.
- Acuity Scheduling, who take program bookings.
- Donorbox and their payment processor, who take donations.
- Northeast Mountaineering and their booking system, for the Ski and Snowboard Mountaineering course and AIARE Level 1, where their own privacy policy applies to the booking.
- Google, for the volunteer waitlist form and for the website analytics described below.
- Mailchimp, who send our newsletter.
We also share the minimum necessary with a resort where they require a participant list for uphill access, and with our guides for the programs they lead.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files your browser stores. Some are set by Squarespace and are necessary to make the site, the store and the forms work at all.
We also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate, which pages people read and where they arrive from, so that we can make it better. Google Analytics sets its own cookies and Google processes that data on its own terms. We do not use it to identify individual visitors and we do not combine it with your registration or donation records.
If you would rather not be measured at all, every major browser lets you block third-party cookies, and Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics everywhere. Blocking either will not stop you using any part of this site.
If you register for a program or donate, we may email you about our programs. Every email has an unsubscribe link and unsubscribing takes one click. Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not stop us emailing you the practical details of a program you have actually booked.
Minors
Our programs are open to participants aged 12 and over, and anybody under 18 must be accompanied throughout by a parent or guardian. We collect a young person's information from that parent or guardian, who also signs the waiver. This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anybody under 12.
How long we keep it
As long as we need it and no longer. Waivers and registration records are kept for seven years from the program date. Medical and accommodation information is kept for three years and then destroyed securely. Donor records are kept for seven years for tax purposes. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. The full schedule is our document retention policy.
Your choices
You can ask us at any time to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can unsubscribe from any email. You can ask us not to photograph you, and you can ask us to remove a photograph of you that is already published, and it comes down without us asking why. You do not need to give a reason for any of these.
Contact us
Email info@inclusiveskitouring.org or write to P.O. Box 278, Hanover, Maine 04237. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually a few days.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
