Accessibility statement
What we are doing to make this website usable by everybody, what we know is not right yet, and how to tell us when something does not work.

Our commitment
Inclusive Ski Touring exists because outdoor spaces have not been equally open to everybody. A website that is hard to use undercuts that, so we treat accessibility as part of the mission rather than as compliance.
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.2, at Level AA. We are not claiming conformance today, because we are not there yet and saying otherwise would be the wrong thing to do on this particular page.
What we have done
- Text sizes across the site scale with your browser settings rather than being fixed, so zooming and increasing text size works properly.
- Our color palette was chosen for contrast, and the pages we have rebuilt meet AA contrast ratios.
- Pages use real heading structures so screen readers and keyboard navigation can move through them.
- Sizing and gear information is real text rather than images of text, so it can be read aloud and reflowed on a phone.
- Every embedded booking or review widget has a plain-text equivalent beside it, so the page still works if the embed does not.
What we know is not right yet
Being specific here is more useful than being reassuring.
- Image descriptions. A lot of the photographs on this site have no alt text, or have a camera filename as their alt text. We are working through them, starting with our photography page.
- Third-party embeds. Our booking, donation and review tools are supplied by other companies and we do not control their accessibility. Where one of them is a barrier for you, email us and we will do that part with you directly, by email or on the phone.
- Link text. Some older pages still use links whose text is just the word "here", which tells you nothing if you are moving through a page by link. We are replacing those as we rebuild each page.
- Documents. Our print guides are PDFs and not all of them are fully tagged for screen readers. Every guide is also published as a web page, which is the accessible version.
Programs, not just the website
We are not an adaptive sports program. We do not have adaptive equipment or adaptive instruction, and there are organizations that do this properly. If you contact us about a disability we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot accommodate, and point you toward people who can help where we cannot. A lot of what people ask about turns out to be arrangements rather than equipment, and those are usually possible.
If you use a service animal, contact us before a program and we will work out the arrangements with you and with the mountain.
Tell us when something does not work
This is the most useful part of this page. If any part of this site is a barrier for you, email info@inclusiveskitouring.org and tell us what happened and what you were trying to do. You will get a reply from a person. If something on the site is stopping you from booking a program, say so and we will book it for you by email.
